Lost $7,000 painting

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Beware of these people!! I paid $7,000 for a painting that they took custody of it to ship to me and they lost it! Ive made demand to get the painting or be reimbursed for it and they have refused to respond to me. Total silence to an email I sent on February 15. Disgraceful. Do not trust them with anything irreplaceable or of any value. This aint the end of this! Recommended by: @jgarrettauctioneers

The worst experience in years

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The owner of the business did not supervise the packaging of the fragile items well enough. They'd been packaged badly and incurred damage while in transit. The owner then was trying to stall processing the claim or issuing a refund. He promised in writing to send a check for a refund on January 2, 2019. He then backed away from his promise telling me that he has other bills to pay. His rudeness and dishonesty had been fully backed up by the Corporate officer. Obviously, it is futile to expect good packaging or honesty from the owner or the Company.

The owner answers his phone at the bank. Said he’d call back with a guote, never called back.

One man really bad show.

Thank God I didn’t give them a $11,500 painting to ship. Bad news

Lost the shipment - never to be found

Shortly after my mother passed away, my sister sent me a lovely, 9 x 11 Persian rug that had been in my mother's home. It had great sentimental value in addition to being beautiful. A pretty big thing to lose, but Navis lost it. The Navis GM was a lousy communicator, never returning my calls and showing no detectable remorse. The folks on the receiving end were helpful, but they never located the rug and finally the insurance paid for its loss. There was another part of the shipment that did make it to me that contained some pottery. One art piece arrived broken. A piece was actually missing from it, which indicates it was broken when they packed it. Dealing with Navis was a terrible and upsetting experience.

NAVIS Pack and Ship - Owner of Philly location is a first class ***
Updated by user Nov 28, 2017

I spoke with the owner.

Original review Nov 27, 2017
The owner of this company is a first class ***. Upon letting them know that I was not planning to use their service after getting a quote that I thought was too expensive, he saw in my email signature that I worked at the University of Pennsylvania and replied with "Really? I contribute more than that to Penn every year." with his graduation year from our business school. Not only was the quote unreasonable, but he showed his true colors by not accepting my polite decline and choosing rudeness instead. How is this in any way appropriate behavior? I did nothing wrong besides choose to go with another company based on the quote the website offers for free.

Avoid them

Re: Navis Pack & Ship CA1102. We are based in Europe and from time to time we need logistic service in California (Burlingame, San Franciso, Thousands Oaks, Milpitas, etc.) At least once a year we ask Navis from California about their price for packing or for packing and shipping to Europe. And they always try to rip us off... This month (March 2018) they wanted 8800 USD just for making 8 wooden cages. It does not include any shipping, which would probably cost another thousands dollars. This is crazy. It's almost 8 times more than we usually pay. 2 Years ago they wanted 3600 USD for packing into 2 wooden cages and Sea Freight to Europe. My only advice: Avoid Them, because they will make you fool. Regards.

Do Not PREPAY--Get Your Shipment before paying and read contract carefully!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

If you make the poor judgement decision to go with Navis--do not prepay. I thought I possibly was alone but just reading reviews here I see I am lucky I only lost 1000$ in goods.

I am not the kind of person to write on boards like these but my experience was so unbelievable and bad I felt I must. Navis was the lower of several bids, but in the end I am out everything. Navis did not pick up my crate on time (clear date specified in contract) (simplified version--more to this but not going to write it all) and as a result, my crate was moved and then thrown away. Throughout this ridiculous debacle I called almost every day and was told "It is being shipped today".

I finally called a number that was also given to Navis--a one min sleuthing call they could have done easily instead of continually handing out BS--to find out my crate had been thrown away because 'it was just sitting there for twenty days'. The amazing response to this was ' Find out where it is so then we can arrange to pick it up'. What? It is in the trash lady-!

I know now that this is a stalling tactic. Never did they acknowledge they were wrong in any way. When I called to get the money back I had prepaid (I had to call every time and be clear--I know now they wouldn't have given my money back--very shady) I was told about all of these mysterious charges (tiny road charge, expedential shipping -when they assured me it would be on time when I first asked for bid...etc) which cut into my refund. And on top of this, the fake woman who was my contact told me about all of the losses their company swallowed to get my work there...blah blah and actually got in a "I didn't say that...." conversation with me when I tried to clarify events.

Ridiculous. You are talking to someone who lost all of six months of work, and 1000$ in base materials--not even talking about time and hours to remake it and you are going to get into a *** "I didn't say that. Who me?' conversation. And then,on top of that, talk about company losses--try losing everything! At that point I decided to write this review.

If there was an ounce of sympathy or honest concession of events that transpired I would not have written this. Take responsibility NAVIS! And possibly do a call to check instead of lying continually to customer.

Don't believe anything they say--choose another company!! KENT WA

Navis give you an estimate, pick up your items and then double or triple the costs. They have your items as prisoner and you have then very little to do. Navis crab and *** is the reason that I will never trust an American company again. It is not only meaning that we will purchase less in US, but they give American businesses a bad name. I can only recommend everybody to stay away from this company. They now hold items worth USD 10,000 of mine and claim more than usd 10,000 to deliver them. The original quote was less then usd 4,000. They are lying, untrustworthy and slow. I will never ever trust them with anything again and I do hope that you do not do that either. Stay away! It is better to hire a homeless on a bicycle to move your piano than involving Navis Crab and ***

Late, lies, and damage

We had our furniture shipped by Navis Pack and Ship. a big mistake. After several questions regarding insurance I got little information and the people who picked up our furniture had us sign a form where we requested the insurance we thought we had learned about. Then they took 2 weeks to just pack the stuff, which was supposed to take 2 days. When it arrived on the other side of the country they had not found anyone to deliver it to us... it spent another two weeks one state away! Then finally delivered through a third party which cost us an additional fee... they lied about the progress, they didn't answer calls or communications of any kind during the long extended wait, and refused to compensate for the trouble. The furniture arrived several weeks after promised, and everything had some little ding or scratch or new wobbliness, a few missing parts, chairs broken, we even had an antique lamp completely severed in half, the metal literally severed - unbelievable. When we tried to claim insurance money, we learned that there was small print on the back of the document which meant that items were insured only to the tune of total dollar chosen DIVIDED BY NUMBER OF ITEMS. so our piano was in the end insured to the same amount as a lamp, which was around 25$. We will NEVER use their services again. I recommend you look elsewhere.

Navis Pack & Ship of Philadelphia

We shipped dining room furniture from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. Received a few quotes but mistakenly choose Navis Pack & Ship of Philadelphia. Their quote was higher than the others but thought they would professionally pack the furniture. They told me it would be fully insured with zero deductible. The furniture arrived damaged. I had taken pictures when the furniture was picked up and after it arrived. Staples from the packing crate damage the top surface of one of the pieces. Navis would not pay to repair the damage. Navis Pack & Ship are franchises that pick up your items and take them back to their warehouse to crate for shipping by a third party. In my case the shipper was Yellow Freight. The Philadelphia franchise in Folcroft picked up and packaged my furniture. They did a very poor job packing and crating the furniture. It was surprising that more was not damaged. I contacted the headquarters and they said since their franchise locations are each independently owned and operated there was nothing they can do. If you care about what you are shipping, I do not recommend shipping with Navis Pack & Ship.

We shipped a family heirloom that their shipping partners put a forklift through. Their franchise and franchise manager will not pay us or take calls. The brand is untrustworthy. Stay away. Crooks. They will take your money and not stand behind their service. The franchise tells you that they are small and there are no standards. Their corporate office in California will also not answer calls. Choose another partner. Tell everyone that Navis is unprofessional. No one takes ownership. And the consumer is the victim. Victim. That is what you are with shippers with no integrity. They will destroy what you ship.

Broken in transit

Do not waste your money with these people. I have been shipping furniture for years and went with them since they were a little cheaper then the company we usually use. The item was broken in transit and has taken 6 months to resolve. The resolve was poor at best, a lot of "not our fault". They took our money and handed our piece over to a trucking company. When it was damaged they acted as if since it was not them who actually did the damage they were not at fault. We paid them and had no knowledge of who they were actually going to use for the shipping and delivery. Just do yourself a favor and do not waste your money.

I had exactly this reaction and feeling. I went with Navis because it was the lowest bid between things went badly they did not take responsibility and acted like I was the problem. I would love to go back in time and make a better choice.

Do not go with Navis

We contacted Navis to ship some items to Europe. Small shipment, nothing too complicated. When we first communicated, everything seemed OK, then from the moment they picked up the shipment the trouble started. Lack of transparency: the price of the shipment went up more then once, including a hefty ~1000 dollars at the end to have the goods delivered. Also, the documents were not in order and at every step there was some trouble. We paid for a door-to-door delivery, too bad that the goods were delivered in the middle of the street a block away from the address. They were also delivered on a broken pallet, so the shipment almost fell on a car nearby. The goods were damaged, a computer screen crashed, too bad that we paid over 500 dollars for the pickup of the goods and the "careful" assembly of the pallet. What is even worse than the above is the general lack of accountability, they simply want your money and that's it. They did not even bother answering my complaints. My advice is DO NOT GO NAVIS!!

Damaged, Missing, Late and expensive !

Their price was good but charged me later for "other" costs which made them overall more expensive and when you factor in all the damage it was an expensive mistake to use them. My goods were delayed, truck damaged, furniture smashed and quite a number of items "dissapeared" (I have photo and evidence of the damage taken independently by the guys offloading the container). The original "packing lists" detailing all items also "dissapeared" making it impossible to cross check the delivery. Items listed on the ship list were not in the container (the container was received with all the security tags in place so was unopened in transit). The location was unresponsive, and their owners (Annex Brands) were unwilling to discuss / pay for the damage / loss that they caused. Very sad, very expensive mistake using them !

I read about Navis on-line and hired them to move an antique crystal chandelier. Their website states that they specialize in moving antiques and crate AND provide foam insulation for protection. Upon arrival to a receiver in Houston, the chandelier had crashed to the bottom of the crate where their was NO INSULATION.The franchise owner said they use "air" instead of foam insulation. REALLY? So my chandelier swung from side to side for the 3 hour trip with "panty hose" tied to it's sides to minimize the swinging. Some of the crystal arms and prisms were broken. They offered to pay 50% of the damage. If you value your items you need to find a more experienced and professional mover. Navis isn't it.

Shipping from Dallas, Texas to London England

First estimate of valuable antique furniture and small valuable pieces given at my home from Navis on Shady Lane in Dallas Texas was circa $5000. When they had the goods and I was in Europe they changed the price to $20,000.

I negotiated them down to $15,500. They took over 5 months to ship the goods. Shocking results. Hardly anything was professionally packed.

Speciality 19C chinoiserie secretary, 19C French wooden table, 19C paintings, 19C wooden torchiere pedestal, 19C oversized caned chair etc, all packed poorly and damaged. Most of above were supposed to be crated. Over one hundred delicate objets d'art including clocks, porcelain boxes, bronze boxes with ivory paintings, vases, crystals, statues, ivory statuary, silver and crystal boxes etc thrown and heaped into cartons with little or no packing. Pictures and videos as proof.

All antique items in repaired state lose value. These were cherished, fine pieces from my mother's personal antique collection of great value, intact when Navis picked them up. Also Navis had me pay for a full container when the container was half-full and nothing was prepared for rough seas. I know because I was present for the opening of the shipment container.

Exquisite pair of bronze candelabrum 19c twisted and broken arms as a result, stress fractures in secretary as a result, hole in canvas of beautiful large copy of Vigee LeBrun painting etc . I have been four months sending out different pieces for repairs as am keeping what is salvageable for sentimental reasons. And there's plenty more to repair. Almost everything of $100,000 shipment has lost greatly in value for my heirs.

Navis has not answered my complaint. Better Business Bureau said they were in the wrong but I will probably have to sue them.

Should have used someone who knew...

The service was not professional, internal shipping documents (that showed profit margins, too) were released to me to fill out (Sorry, EAR99 means nothing to the average person, that's why they hire a shipper!), additional fees for sending my items to Germany instead of the country they were actually supposed to be shipped to (over a thousand USD) and more cluster f's than one can imagine when paying 6 thousand to ship just a few pallets is ridiculous. They didn't have a clue. When I have to consult the US Federal CFRs for household goods shipping, the shipper is doing nothing for me. Wasted money, wasted time. I should have used air freight. At least screwing I got would not have dragged out for 4 months.
